Kiss Me Deadly
Kiss Me Deadly (1955)

IMDB rating: 7.70

Plot: Tough L.A. private eye Mike Hammer gives a ride to Christina, a frightened young woman he finds running along the road one night. His car is run off the road by unseen thugs. Hammer is knocked out and Christina is tortured in an unsuccessful attempt to get information from her. They are put back into Hammer’s car which then is forced off a cliff. Hammer wakes up in the hospital. Velda, his trusty secretary, informs him that Christina is dead. Pat Chambers, Mike’s policeman friend, tells him to stay off the case, but Mike thinks it might be a big story—meaning big money for him—because the FBI is interested. Yes. Right now, I am reading "Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul". It’s a great book, and a real eye opener for me. Definitely give it a shot, I have realized a lot of things about myself that I never knew. (:
The Twilight series were great too. I finished Breaking Dawn about a month or two ago. (:

I Love Guinea Pigs | Jan 23, 2010

Darkest Powers by Kelley Armstrong
The first book was very boring, yet interesting, but the second book made up for it. The third book is coming out in May I think.

Deadly Little Lies by Laurie Stolarz
If you’ve read Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Stolarz, then why not read Deadly Little Lies? I love both of these books!

Dark Visions by L.J. Smith
This is a trilogy in a 730 page book. Don’t get me started on how much I love this series! After I finished this book (in two days I might add), I went on a witch hunt and tried to find more books like these.

Into the Wild by Sarah Beth Durst
A whole new twist including fairytales! If you like this book, check out it’s sequel, Out of the Wild.

The Gallagher Series by Ally Carter
Oh my gosh, this is the best series I’ve read ever! I’d Tell You I Love You but Then I’d Have to Kill You; Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy; and Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover are the book titles. The first book I’ve read with spies, romance, and action all packed into it!

Nokosee: Rise of the New Seminole by Micco Mann. It has the defiant voice of a 17 year old girl who manages to overcome everything thrown at her in the course of the novel which is a lot– and she does it in a way that would make all girls proud– not in a superhuman way or through the assistance of some heroic act of a man but via her own means.

Cherry by Mary Karr. A memoir about teens, sex and growing up in rural Texas as told through the gritty, beautiful prose of one of America’s best authors.
http://bit.ly/CherryKarr

The Liar’s Club by Mary Karr. Another moving memoir recounting her earlier years (you should probably read this one first and then Cherry).
http://bit.ly/LiarsClub

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Pulitzer Prize winner re a teen on a quest.
http://bit.ly/TheAlchemist

She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb. Begins with the life of a school girl with no friends and follows her through many wrong turns until she makes a right one and finds love. The book gives us one of the most memorable characters in literature: Dolores Price.
http://bit.ly/ShesCome

Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. It’s a Norman Rockwell painting done in dark, mysterious tones about friendship between next door neighbors, relationships with fathers, books, libraries and a mysterious carnival that rolls into town in the middle of the night that changes everything that comes after it. Bradbury’s best.

The King Must Die. Set in ancient Greece it follows Theseus on a journey of discovery while painting a vivid picture of the times. Loved the descriptions of young uninhibited Greeks running buck naked up hills and through forests and making love among the flowers. The scenes of naked teens jumping bulls cries out for a cinematic interpretation. Ms. Renault’s written a series of historical novels set in this period and all of them are so worthy.
